Dr. Douglas Martin is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician specializing in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. His expertise includes work comp related injuries, aviation, commercial driver, immigration, and post-job offer examinations, surveillance and hearing evaluations, fitness for duty determinations, IMEs, and independent file reviews.
Martin provides clinical and operational leadership to business health services in Sioux City and the surrounding communities. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, Certified Independent Medical Examiner, Certified Medical Review Officer, an Aviation Medical Examiner, a designated Immigration Civil Surgeon, a Social Security Disability Examiner for Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota, and a Certified Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program (CPS/A). He is also a regular speaker and has contributed his knowledge to a variety of publications.
Dr. Martin received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is a certified Medical Review Officer and Aviation Medical Examiner. Dr. Martin has many notable contributions to the medical field, including; serving on several boards, completing hundreds of educational presentations and authoring three books and several articles.
Dr. Martin says he loves what he does. “I have been practicing occupational medicine in Sioux City since 1994, and have considerable experience in injury care and management,” he says. “I am fortunate enough to have been asked to supply education both nationally and internationally to physicians on a variety of clinical topics and have written chapters in several AMA publications. This year (2022-2023) I am honored to serve ACOEM as its President.”
Outside of his practice, Dr. Martin has a diverse range of interests including Scouting, coin collecting, officiating football games, and serving as the public address announcer for Dakota Valley football.
