Dr. Daniel Nelson is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery, treating patients with hip and knee conditions, including replacements, revisions, fractures and infections. He also treats patients with other orthopaedic injuries and conditions, including orthopaedic trauma.
Dr. Nelson is fellowship-trained in adult reconstruction and joint replacement from the Southern Joint Replacement Institute/Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He earned his medical degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has received provider certification in ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Dr. Nelson is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at USD Sanford School of Medicine.
Dr. Nelson grew up on a farm in South Dakota. He enjoys playing golf, pheasant hunting, and watching high school, college and professional basketball and football and spending time with his wife and three children.
