Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called physiatry, is the branch of medicine emphasizing the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal disorders that may produce temporary or permanent impairment. Physiatrists specialize in the nonsurgical management of these disorders, such as back and neck pain, ligament and/or muscle injuries, myofascial pain, work and sports-related injuries.
