MRI

What is an MRI?
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI scans show excellent detailed soft tissue images of all body parts. Each exam takes less than 1 hour. There is no harmful radiation because magnetic fields and computers are used to generate your image.
MRI exams are painless. The exam will take place in a relaxed, comfortable setting. You will be asked to lie on a comfortable padded table. While the scanner is operating, you will hear a loud thumping noise. You will be asked to hold as still as possible for the exam. Some patients nap.
What can you expect at your MRI Exam?
Our relaxing, patient friendly MRI is designed for patient comfort. One look at our Short Bore MRI machine shows you the dramatic difference. Our short magnet allows most of your body to rest comfortably outside the magnet, while maintaining excellent, high quality images. The magnet is open at both ends. Because of the magnet design, it is easy for a loved one to stay with you during your exam.
What happens after your MRI exam?
A Board Certified Radiologist with advanced training in MRI will interpret the MRI exam. Your physician will be given a copy of the results of the MRI exam 2 to 3 days after your exam.
