Carotid artery disease, or plaque build-up in the arteries in the neck, is a common cause of stroke in adults. Often the first sign of carotid artery disease is a stroke as many people are unaware of any problem. This is why carotid screening ($35) is recommended for people over 50 or for people over 40 with multiple risk factors for stroke or a strong family history of cardiovascular disease. This painless, brief screen allows you to know immediately if there is a problem with the arteries in the neck that needs to be addressed or not and when to be re-screened.

A more comprehensive triple screen is also offered at CNOS. The triple vascular screen ($99) tests for plaque build-up in the blood vessels in three regions of the body; the neck, abdomen, and legs or feet. This helps your physician have a better overall assessment of the health of your blood vessels.
